Terms of use
Beta version. These terms describe how UniConnect works today and are being reviewed by legal advisers before the full launch; items marked to be completed will be filled in then.
1. About UniConnect
UniConnect is operated by legal entity name and registered address — to be completed. It lets verified universities, schools and companies publish their pages, events, opportunities and research, message each other, sign partnership agreements and refer students. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
2. Who can join
- Universities and other higher-education institutions, schools, and companies — not individuals. There are no student accounts.
- The person registering must be authorised to act for the organisation and must use an official email address on the organisation’s own domain.
- The details you give must be accurate and kept up to date.
3. Verification
We check every organisation against official sources — its website, the accreditation body or company register, and international registries — usually within three working days. Until then the page shows Pending verification, and the organisation can reply to messages but not start conversations. We may ask for documents, and we remove pages we can’t verify. A verified organisation’s name can only be changed through us.
4. Your organisation’s team
- Each organisation has one page, run by a team. The person who registers it is its owner. Owners may invite colleagues who work there, using their work email on the organisation’s own domain, as editors (who publish and reply) or make them owners (who also manage the team and sign agreements).
- Everyone signs in with their own email and password; never share a sign-in. Keep your password safe; we recommend turning on two-step sign-in.
- When someone leaves, an owner removes them in Settings → Team. If no owner can be reached, ask us to hand the account over after we have checked the new person works there. The organisation keeps its history.
- You are responsible for everything done with your organisation’s account.
5. Your content
- You keep ownership of what you publish. You give UniConnect a licence to host, display and share it on the service so others can see it — for as long as it is on UniConnect.
- You must have the right to publish it, including the permission of people shown in photos (a parent’s or guardian’s for anyone under 18).
- Events and opportunities must link to genuine registration or application pages. Opportunities must say whether they are paid, follow the employment and internship laws where they take place, and be open to everyone regardless of gender, age, religion, ethnicity, disability or marital status.
- Research publications must be real papers identified by a DOI or an arXiv ID; tuition and admissions details must be accurate and in the currency you charge.
6. Messages
- Messages are for genuine professional contact between organisations. Organisations you don’t know arrive as message requests you can accept, ignore or block.
- No spam, unsolicited advertising, harassment or threats. There is a daily limit on new conversations.
- Don’t send students’ personal details in messages — use referrals, which record consent.
- You can report a conversation; our staff then review its recent messages and may remove messages or restrict an account.
7. Students’ data and referrals
- A school may refer a student only with the consent it has recorded from the student, and from a parent or guardian for anyone under 18, and should share only what the university needs.
- The school and the university are each responsible for their own use of students’ data under the law that applies to them. UniConnect deletes referral details 12 months after the university’s decision (24 months if there is none).
- A university that receives a referral must use it only to consider the student’s application.
8. Partnership agreements
Agreements signed on UniConnect are between the two organisations. UniConnect records them and shows them as the organisations choose, but is not a party to them and does not guarantee that either side performs them. An agreement is shown publicly only if both organisations agree.
9. What isn’t allowed
- Pretending to be another organisation or person, or registering an organisation you aren’t authorised to represent.
- False or misleading information, including fake accreditations, rankings, publications or job offers.
- Collecting other members’ data for purposes unrelated to UniConnect, scraping the site, or trying to get around security, rate limits or blocks.
- Anything unlawful, discriminatory, or harmful to students.
10. Suspension and closing
We may remove content or suspend a page that breaks these terms or the law, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Your data; this also deletes your organisation’s page and everything it published.
11. Responsibility
We work to keep UniConnect accurate, secure and available, but we provide it “as is”: information on organisations’ pages comes from those organisations, and we can’t guarantee it or uninterrupted service. Limitation of liability to be completed with legal advisers. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer or data-protection law.
12. Law, changes and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of jurisdiction to be completed. If we change them in a way that matters, we will tell account holders before the change takes effect. Questions: connecteduni24@gmail.com final address to be completed.
